It really is, of course desert is every where like forests and grass here, so every where you look even if you are in a big city, desert is right there!
love the photo of your son on top of the dune. What strikes me interesting about the others – office building, mall, street, is that there are no people in them… Did you sneak out while everyone was napping? 🙂 Have a great day Lynn!
Well funny thing is, people there do not go out much until night time because it is so very hot! I am a morning person and so I was out early all the time. At night it is so busy!! This was a visit my Fattima made with her sister and brother who wanted to go back after almost 5 years! So, that is my Mude the runner up there on top of the sand!
Love the sand dune photo it just shows you the height of that beast. lol no not your son. The office building was interesting architecturally and what a hoot to find french food in Saudi
Darn, my ipad isn’t downloading all the photos. The sand dune is exactly how I picture Saudi! That is one huge dune! The mall is beautiful! (The other photos wouldn’t download).
Thanks, it has been a long and difficult journey to be honest and one that has seemed impossible at times, but at least we are here and not locked away under his control!!
I love the pictures of the office buildings you show from that area. Lots of interesting architecture there. That sand dune made me think of my trip to Nags Head…but I know North Carolina is not Saudi…especially when you talk about those temperatures in the daytime!
Back in my camping days we use to camp near the Indiana Dunes Lakeshore which is a part of the National Park Service. Beautiful area – don’t think the dunes were that tall 🙂
Full of stray cats and garbage, one part is opulent, huge malls, fancy stuff, two feet away garbage dumpsters over flowing, poor workers barely surviving in little tin sheet huts!
Great variety of images in this post Lynn! The contrast between the street, and office building I found quite striking. I too loved the photograph of your son on the Dune.
Thanks it is a huge contrast, the streets are full of stray cats, sick and diseased, starving, workers living in little areas that have nothing, sheet metal, then literally down the street opulence and crazy malls, houses! It is two extremes!
yes, there are a couple organizations that help. I heard that many people come to the country, get a cat and then leave! People are always coming and going sometimes after a few months. So they dump their cats!
Oh Lynn, that is so cruel. Why take on a cat then? If they leave, why leave the cat? That is abuse!
Would they leave their child? same thing in my books !!!!
I just get annoyed….but what can I do? Some people ….. Really…… Anyway, I do not want to get all heated ‘about some people’ 🙂 I hope you have a good day xxx
Wow! I get to be first – Great pictures Lynn. The sand dune looks very expansive.

Hahaha! I guess because of pictures I have seen on t.v. and the movies. Do they have dust storms there like they have in the southwest US?
LikeLiked by 1 person
oh yes big time, the sky turns red and orange and it is hard to see, you always wake up with sand covering your floor that is daily!

Ugh! I don’t think I could stand it if it happened daily! I have been in some bad dust storms but I doubt they were as bad as they are there.

People cover their faces and stay indoors. But the dust in general is always around

I imagine they would have to stay indoors and cover their faces if they go outside. That blowing dust/sand is awful!

Pity someone can’t help those poor, innocent cats that did not even asked to be brought into that world and live in those conditions…..
So sad…
